Police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 11:50 a.m. Saturday July 25, 2020 to a report of a serious motorcycle crash with a pickup truck at Route 14 and South Eastwood Drive (Route 47) in Woodstock.

Upon arrival police and firefighter/paramedics found the motorcycle driver in the roadway suffering with serious injuries just south of US 14 closer to Davis Road. The motorcyclist was assessed and a medical helicopter was requested by 11:53 a.m. to respond to the scene, while firefighter/paramedics were responding to the scene. The landing zone was designated at the U-Haul parking lot.

LifeNet landed at the scene by about 12:12 p.m. and the patient was airlifted to Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the pickup truck declined medical attention.

The crash involved a white Ford F-150, driven by 59-year-old Glen R. Lillund of Fox River Grove, and a Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by the victim that was injured — a 56-year-old man from Algonquin, according to the Woodstock Police Department.

The northbound and southbound lanes of Route 47 were closed for an extended crash investigation, but reopened Saturday afternoon. The McHenry County Major Crash Assistance Team was activated and is assisting Woodstock Police Department with the investigation. Alcohol was not initially believed to be a factor in the crash.

Video surveillance from the Exxon gas station located at 2025 S. Eastwood Drive was obtained by police. Based upon the on-scene portion of the investigation, Lillund was issued traffic citations for Failure to Yield at a stop intersection and Driving with an Expired Driver’s License (less than six months expired).

The identity of the motorcyclist was not initially released pending notification of his family.

Davis Road was closed for the LifeNet airlift rescue operation at the scene of the crash.
