PostProcess Technologies teams with Great Lakes Dental to automate surface finishing

Buffalo, N.Y.-based PostProcess Technologies Inc. www.postprocess.com, a provider of automated postprinting systems for industrial 3D printing, has announced its collaboration with Great Lakes Dental Technologies, an orthodontic laboratory in Tonawanda, N.Y., to provide powder removal and surface finishing for custom-printed dental products.

As an early adopter of additive manufacturing, Great Lakes has implemented PolyJet, DLP, and SLS 3D print technologies in its facilities. Without an automated postprinting system, the company had difficulty surface finishing and removing excess powder with the accuracy necessary to achieve the desired comfort and function.

The PostProcess RADOR surface finishing system automates the powder removal and surface finishing SLS postprint needs. It removes powder from printed parts and burnishes them using suspended rotational force technology.
