SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - On Tuesday, San Diego beach parking lots, piers, and boardwalks reopened following their closures amid the pandemic. The reopening came in time for the heat wave.

10News witnessed beachgoers from Pacific Beach to South Mission Beach who took advantage of the lifted restrictions.

A heat advisory was in effect until 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Coastal highs were in the 80s and 90s.

"It was a lot of fun since we can’t get out that much," said Ashyton Malan who visited the beach on Tuesday with his family. Mother Jennifer Malan added, "People are far apart and not a lot of masks but there was nobody encroaching on anybody’s space so it was nice."

The City reports that visitors are still required to practice social distancing with anyone outside of their household and they cannot congregate or participate in active sporting activities on the beaches.
