Saints Row: The Third Remastered is now out, providing an updated version of the beloved game in Volition's franchise about a wacky street gang. Publisher Deep Silver released a new trailer for Saints Row: The Third Remastered, which is embedded below. Saints Row: The Third Remastered is available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

The remaster was developed by Sperasoft, a studio that's primarily known for contributing to the development of games like Rainbow Six Siege, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Anthem, Mass Effect Andromeda, and The Outer Worlds. As it's not a full blown remake, Saints Row: The Third Remastered is basically the same game, but it has updated visuals that take advantage of the current console generation.

Saints Row is just one of many franchises that didn't get a new entry this console generation. Saints Row, Saints Row 2, Saints Row: The Third, and Saints Row IV all released for Xbox 360 and PS3 (save for the original game which exclusively released for Xbox 360), though IV and now The Third (thanks to this remaster) have all been ported to Xbox One and PS4.

The closest Saints Row has come to a current gen release is 2016's Agents of Mayhem, which acted as a spin off to Saints Row. In November 2019, Volition announced it would reveal the next Saints Row game in 2020. Publisher Deep Silver later clarified that this next game is not Saints Row: The Third Remastered--it's a brand-new game, leading fans to presume it will be the long-anticipated Saints Row 5. Whatever it is, we won't be seeing it anytime soon, as a recent financial report revealed that the next Saints Row won't release until after March 2021.

In GameSpot's Saints Row: The Third review, Carolyn Petit wrote, "Saints Row: The Third is buoyed to great heights by terrific mission design and by the remarkable assortment of vehicles and weapons it gives you with which to take over Steelport. Whether you're buying up property to increase your hourly income, cruising the city in your favorite vehicle to collect photo ops, drug packages, and sex dolls, or punching people to bits with those crazy apocafists, there's rarely a dull moment. Saints Row: The Third succeeds tremendously at delivering its unique brand of raunchy, outrageous fun. If you have an appetite for this particular kind of absurdity, you won't be disappointed."
