Joanna Gaines is unveiling a new paint color today, and it’s one that’s very close to her heart. 1905 Green is the color story at Magnolia Press Coffee Co., her coffee shop in Waco, Texas, and there is a strong connection between the hue and the city’s history.

The name of this new, slightly jewel-toned forest green color is an ode to the beloved home of Gaines and her husband, Chip, and it also pays homage to Katy Park, a minor league baseball stadium that stood near what is now Magnolia Market at the Silos (their vast complex of shops and restaurants) from 1905 to 1965, when it was razed. The former Fixer Upper star says she was drawn to this particular color blend, which ultimately completes the family of 40 green hues in the Magnolia Home by Joanna Gaines paint collection.

“While working on the design concept for our coffee shop, I was flipping through paint swatches and found myself drawn toward two different colors—a deep blue and a jewel-tone green,” Gaines says. The designer then envisioned a way to combine the two to create this custom color.

Inside the coffee shop, Gaines styled the space with walnut, leather, concrete, and bronze mid-century design accents and, in keeping with the tribute to the year 1905, visitors can even order a latte dubbed The 1905, made with toasted marshmallow and vanilla. “I love the way this moody dark green comes to life on the walls, balancing depth and sophistication with familiarity and comfort,” says Gaines of 1905 Green, the first new color that has been introduced into the Magnolia Home by Joanna Gaines paint collection since its launch in 2016.
