After others flirted with the idea of signing Cam Newton on Seattle’s behalf, they re-signed Geno Smith to backup Russell Wilson. That all but ends the speculation surrounding the former MVP and the Seahawks.
Newton’s best option at this point seems to be waiting for a starter to go down with an injury before signing with a team. That could take time, but it’s almost a given that it will eventually happen.
