America’s Got Talent finalist Grandma Lee has sadly passed away months after suffering a broken hip following a fall.

The Oklahoma born comedian was aged 85 when she died at her care home in Jacksonville, Florida, on Friday, her family said.

Grandma Lee, whose real name was Francis Lee Strong, delighted then-AGT judges Piers Morgan, Sharon Osbourne and David Hasselhoff when she featured on the long-running talent show way back in 2009.

TMZ reports that the contestant, who made it all the way to the live final rounds of the fourth season, was still performing until November last year.

The comic’s son, Kelly, confirmed to the outlet that Grandma Lee had died as the week came to a close.

He said she had never fully recovered after she fell in her hotel room and broke her hip following her last on-stage performance in November 2019.

Kelly and his brother were at Grandma’s side and holding her hands as she passed away.

The sons say they will be holding a service to celebrate her life once coronavirus social distance measures are reduced to permit gatherings.

A statement from her family following the reality star’s death said: “Heaven just got a whole lot funnier."

Speaking of her time on America’s Got Talent, Grandma Lee previously explained that she had to tone down her content.

She said: "I go up there and wing it ... but I had to clean it up for the show."

Show judge Sharon enjoyed the OAP's performance, saying at the time: "You are so naughty! Naughty, naughty. But I love you so much!"

While Piers Morgan praised her stand up, saying: "You’ve got the art of comic timing."
