Indecent exposure: Golden Gate Plaza

A woman, 20, reported March 10 that a man had exposed and wiggled his erect penis at her in the parking lot of Marshall’s Clothing. Officers located the man, 25, who denied the claim and said he had been urinating between parked cars.

He was subsequently cited for indecent exposure. The vehicle was found to have been rented by his sister, who was shopping in the store with her boyfriend.

Fleeing and eluding: Golden Gate Boulevard

Officers responded to Best Buy Feb. 27 after the staff said that a man and a woman, who had committed an earlier offense at the Mentor store, were currently in the Mayfield Heights store.

The couple was leaving in a vehicle when officers arrived and subsequently fled from them at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was found to be registered to a 39-year-old New York man.

Upon investigation, it was determined that the man dresses and identifies as female and has several theft convictions. It was also learned that he had been arrested in Willoughby Hills and was currently in jail in Lake County.

He is being charged with two subsequent thefts from the Target store in the city, as well as fleeing and eluding.

Traffic offense: Woodhurst Avenue

Officers followed a vehicle March 5 with no front license plate. It eventually stopped in front of a home. The driver got out and appeared to be walking around aimlessly. He was identified as a Maple Heights boy, 17, who was trying to avoid police because he was driving with a suspended license, which he was subsequently cited for by officers.

Disturbance: Mayfield Road

A former employee of Penn Station said March 7 that he went to the business to order food and the manager was rude and threatened him. Officers spoke to both the man and the manager and got a difference of opinions. The man was sent on his way.

Disturbance: Landerhaven Drive

At 12:33 a.m. March 8, officers responded to the Staybridge Suites for a disturbance on the second floor. They found several people outside a room and a girl, 17, stating that she had been assaulted by a group of girls who had come to a party in the room.

She complained of a lump on her forehead and said she had been pepper-sprayed. She was subsequently taken to the hospital and her mother was notified.

Management asked that the occupants of the room leave. Officers cleared 40 to 50 people out of the room.

Disturbance: Crestwood Road

An Uber driver complained of an unruly passenger March 8. Officers learned that the rider was upset because a propane tank was rolling around in the vehicle and the driver would not remove it. The two were separated without incident.

Impaired driving: SOM Center Road

A Moreland Hills man, 39, was arrested for OVI around 11:30 p.m. March 8 after an officer saw his vehicle nearly strike another car.

Theft: Golden Gate Plaza

A woman reported March 9 that her cell phone had been stolen while she was at Chuck E’ Cheese two days earlier. She believed it was either stolen out of her back pocket or her purse, which had been left at her seat. She estimated its value at $1,100.

Parking complaint: Eastgate Drive

A Cleveland Heights woman, 42, was cited March 9 near Chipotle for having a handicapped placard that expired in 2018. Marijuana was seen in clear view in a container in her car, so officers searched the vehicle and found a wallet belonging to another woman.

She said her husband is a mailman and that he had found the wallet while on his route. She said she was going to return it to the woman because she lived close by. Officers took the wallet to return it to its owner.

Counterfeiting: Mayfield Road

A counterfeit $50 bill was passed at Mayfield Floral March 9, but not discovered until the next day. The unknown man who paid with the bill was given $40 in change.

General assistance: Marsol Road

Residents of the Drake apartments reported March 10 that a safe had gone missing from their living room. There were no signs of forced entry, but the couple said they sometimes forget to lock a window on the first-floor apartment. They believed there was $1,500 cash in the safe.
