753 land jobs so far this year

KUNAK: A total of 753 job seekers were successfully placed in various employment sectors through the Employment Carnival Programme organised by the Sabah Labour Department – Human Resources Ministry from January to February this year.The number was recorded through four series of carnival tours in Kimanis, Sipitang, Tenom and Kinabatangan this year.

“It’s a great achievement. Each carnival we can accommodate about 154 to 200 job seekers, said Labour Department Chief Assistant Director Othman Abdullah to the Daily Express at the Kunak Employment Carnival Programme in the district’s community hall on Saturday.

“We assisted 753 job seekers in Sabah in the past four carnivals,” he said.

Othman said two similar programmes were held simultaneously on Saturday in Kunak and Kudat.

“We hope the youth in Kunak will tell their friends who are still looking for a job about the programme,” he said.

“Those who could not make it to the programme, may go to the Kunak Labour Department office during office hours to get information on vacancies.

Othman said 105 job seekers managed to apply for jobs during the two hours of the programme in Kunak.

An open interview was also held during the event involving 14 employers and one training provider agency, which are based in Sabah and the Peninsular.
