Pacific Design Center Cancels Westweek Amid Coronavirus Concerns

Due to safety concerns about the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, the Pacific Design Center can announced that it will be cancelling Westweek, which was scheduled to take place March 18 and 19. The news comes after several keynote speeches and panels had already been cancelled due to the virus. Representatives for the fair expressed that the decision was made for the safety of "tenants, staff, clients, guests, and the design industry as a whole," and that the design center is looking forward to its September Fall Market.

Serena Dugan Studio Launches With Dinner Party at Hollywood at Home

At Peter Dunham’s Hollywood at Home last week, leading figures from L.A.’s interior design community gathered to celebrate Serena Dugan Studio’s official launch over a festive dinner. The Serena & Lily cofounder’s new brand brings the Sausalito-based Dugan back to her roots as a painter and textile designer. Products include wallpapers printed in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, and Belgian linen designs that are screen-printed in Los Angeles.

Designers such as Nathan Turner, Eric Hughes, Jamie Bush, Mary McDonald, Suzanne Rheinstein, and Trip Haenisch dined at a long table adorned with a runner in Dugan’s bold, Luis Barragán–inspired Condesa pattern, set with indigo-hued napkins. Dunham explains to AD PRO why Dugan’s latest effort makes for an organic presence at the showroom. “I have admired Serena for a long time, and I’ve loved her aesthetic,” he says. “It felt like a very easy fit.”

NeueHouse Announces Venice Beach Location

NeueHouse, the private club that has made rehabilitating historic buildings part of its ethos, announced its third L.A. location is under way in Venice at 73 Market Street. “We’re a members club that focuses on the creative moments,” CEO Josh Wyatt tells AD PRO. “And that’s why we’ve evolved the product to have moments where you can actually share ideas.”

It’s fitting that NeueHouse Venice Beach will be situated on the same street where Larry Gagosian built a home designed by Robert Mangurian and Craig Hodgetts of Studio Works that also contained one of his first art galleries, and where Jean-Michel Basquiat spent his early-1980s SoCal sojourns. Film producer Tony Bill, who co-owned erstwhile legendary restaurant 72 Market Street with actor Dudley Moore and others, is the current owner of the 73 Market Street property. DesignAgency is handling interior duties at the two-story, red-and-white glazed-brick vernacular building, with a target opening date of later this year.
