NORTH BORNEO NEWS & SABAH TIMES - (Wednesday, October 31, 1962) - SIPITANG. - The Sipitang District Council Meeting this month welcomed the Sipitang Village Council’s plans for a new village and promised every encouragement to the project.

In considering the Village Council’s Minutes, the District Council decided that a pipe well would be put into the village as an experiment, provided sufficient funds were available at the end of the year. Members did not consider it practical for the District Council to make money available for buying books for schoolchildren.

Sindumin road:

The Chairman of the District Council, Mr J. P. M. Parry (ADO) agreed to seek the necessary approval of the Secretary for Local Government to allocate a further $15,000 from the Council’s reserve funds towards an all-weather road to Sindumin.

The Chairman described the progress made so far by the PWD in rehabilitating the Pantai Road and said he understood they would be willing to continue it on to Sindumin if the District Council could supply up to $5,000 a mile.

The completion of this all-weather road would be a major step in developing the district the Chairman pointed out.
