After progressing from Under 20’s, Hudson Young didn’t take long to make an impression as he made his NRL debut in Round 3 against the Newcastle Knights.

The 21 year old impressed in his limited minutes but was given a chance in Round 8 against the Panthers as John Bateman suffered an eye-socket injury.

With Bateman off the field, Young stepped up to the plate and scored the first try of his NRL career as he showed incredible strength to beat three defenders and score.

With Bateman unavailable until Round 12, Young started in the second row for the next three matches and made nine tackle breaks and averaging 34 tackles.

However, Young’s stint in the team came to an end as the English international returned against the Bulldogs and suspension made Young unavailable.

The second rower had to wait until Round 23 for his next chance in the team but was equally impressive with workrate.

The final game of the regular season saw Young elevated to the starting side where he made 41 tackles and ran for 80 meters. Unfortunately a foul when trying to stop a try saw him miss the rest of the season.
