An Ohio State assistant coach has been named a finalist for the Frank Broyles Award, presented to the top assistant in college football.

Co-defensive coordinator and secondary coach Jeff Hafley is one of five finalists for the national award. The announcement was made on Monday afternoon.

The other four finalists include:

  • Phil Snow, defensive coordinator — Baylor
  • Dan Lanning, defensive coordinator — Georgia
  • Joe Brady, passing game coordinator/wide receivers — LSU
  • Morgan Scalley, defensive coordinator/safeties — Utah

Hafley has helped Ohio State’s transform into a mediocre unit into one of the best defensive teams in the country. The Buckeyes rank fourth nationally in scoring defense, allowing 11.8 points per game, second in pass defense at 141.1 yards per game, and first in total defense, allowing 232.3 yards per game.

Ohio State is 12-0 and will take on Wisconsin in the B1G Championship Game.
