Over K60,000 worth of property stolen, seven charged

Seven men were charged and arrested for break and enter at the National AIDS Council Secretariat’s Office.

They stole property worth more than K60,800.

Thirty-year-old Willie Raphael from Eastern Highlands Province and seven other suspects were arrested and charged under section 398 (a) (i) under the Criminal Code Act.

Court documents stated that on 31st July 2019, the suspects were armed with four factory made pistols when they allegedly entered the main gates of NACS and held up security guards on duty.

Police alleged that five of the suspects walked in the building; two kept watch while defendant Raphael waited in the vehicle.

The next day, Members of the Break In Squad and police forensics collected evidence after the fact.

Upon investigating the matter, police discovered that four defendants namely Junior Bare, John Mathew, Raymond Simi, Kume Keware and defendant Willie, already had separate cases before court.

They were arrested and charged; and appeared in court on Wednesday.

Their case has been adjourned to 8th January 2020.
