Court set Nov 30 for stepdaughter abuse case continuation
KOTA KINABALU: The Sessions Court set Nov 30 for the continuation trial of a 30-year-old man charged with abusing his stepdaughter.

Judge Azreena Aziz set the date for Andri Hamizi Yuan @ Antonius who once again changed his plea to not guilty when his case was brought up for sentencing on Thursday.

Andri is accused of abusing the eight-year-old girl at a house in SFI residential area in Sipitang on June 29 this year.

On Aug 28, Andri had pleaded guilty to the offence under Section 31(1)(a) of the Children Act 2001 provides for a jail term of up to 20 years, or fine of up to RM50,000, or both, on conviction. Andri was ordered remanded further pending the date.

Meanwhile, three persons were jailed five months each for entering the State illegally.

They were Abdul Razak Jara, Jumdail Andi and Andi Osman. The trio admitted to entering the State without documents.

The court also handed a stroke of the cane to Abdul. They were arrested between Nov 11 and 28 during an operation conducted by the police after failing to produce their identification documents.

The court ordered the foreigners to serve the jail sentence from the date of their arrests and referred to the Immigration Department after completing their jail sentence.
