It's been just a few months since Victoria Beckham launched her eponymous beauty brand, but the former Spice Girl is already making major waves in the industry with her line of luxury makeup, which consists of creamy kohl eyeliners, nude lip liners for every skin tone, and glitter eye shadows.

As if that weren't enough, we now have even more reason to love the brand because she just added skin-care to the mix with an equally exciting twist: Victoria Beckham Beauty is launching its first-ever skin-care product, the Cell Rejuvenating Priming Moisturizer, in collaboration with Augustinus Bader.

Equal parts illuminator and hydrator, the priming moisturizer features micro-pearls that are said to give skin an ultra-glowy, lit-from-within look while also being good for your skin, courtesy of Bader's proprietary technology. On Instagram, Beckham explains her goal: "I have been working on this for a long long time and it has been a dream to develop, with Augustinus, a priming moisturizer that works to improve the health of my skin and gives that fresh, natural glow that I love."

This collaboration seems very natural given that Beckham, along with a laundry list of models and celebrities (and our own editor in chief), is a big fan of Augustinus Bader (pronounced Bah-der). The famed German stem-cell and biomedical scientist launched his eponymous skin-care line in 2018, with three creams (two for the face and one recently launched body cream) infused with his proprietary TFC8 (Trigger Factor Complex-8) technology.

That same TFC8 technology, which Bader devotees claim to be the fountain of youth, harnessed in an unassuming (and pricey) little blue bottle, is also formulated in the new VBB primer. "TFC8 comprises natural amino acids, high-grade vitamins, and synthesized molecules naturally found in skin," explains cosmetic chemist Ginger King, who is unaffiliated with either brand. "It guides key nutrients and powerful natural ingredients to the skin cells, creating an optimal environment for the body's innate processes of repair and renewal."

Los Angeles-based dermatologist Nancy Samolitis, also unaffiliated with Bader and Beckham, explains it similarly. "I have a lot of patients who are raving about Professor Bader's products, so I have done my research," she says. "The TFC8 complex triggers skin cells to repair damaged material and signals stem cells to regenerate healthy skin."

By setting the skin's natural repair system back on track, TFC8 is supposed to result in a host of benefits for the skin such as antioxidant protection, increased hydration, and faded fine lines.

Beckham's new primer combines this patented technology with other skin-soothing ingredients, like avocado oil and peptides, for a two-in-one that works as a moisturizer and a makeup primer. "Primers can help to create a little extra barrier to the damaging effects of the environment and can seal in moisture leading to healthier skin," Samolitis says, noting the ingenuity of a dual-use product. "In this busy world with somewhat complex skin-care regimens, it will help people to get the rejuvenating active products on their skin with a product that they are probably already using. It will reduce the number of steps in our regimen and that is definitely beneficial."

If you're familiar with Augustinus Bader creams, the texture and weight of this new VBB primer falls somewhere between Bader's the Rich Cream and his original product, the Cream. The primer is white and smells like the rest of Bader's lineup (a mix of baby powder, fresh cream, and nothing), much to my delight. As a recent Bader convert (I never thought I needed a $265 face cream, but now that I've tried it, I, and my bank account, are afraid I will never go back) and lifelong Beckham fan, I couldn't have been more excited to test this out.

The primer itself goes on super lightweight, yet is still, as promised, very hydrating. I layered it onto bare skin, sans moisturizer underneath, then applied my foundation and concealer on top and on a very cold winter weekend this primer managed to calm my on-the-verge-of-flaking-off dry skin. And it made my skin feel incredibly soft. Like baby's bottom soft. So soft that I can't stop touching my face.

Not certain about a lit-from-within glow just yet, but hey, not everyone can look like Victoria Beckham (though I will keep trying!). In my humble opinion, the new Cell Rejuvenating Priming Moisturizer is just as amazing as I expected it to be, and I will continue to use it daily for the skin-care benefits alone. Bottom line: I love it.

Victoria Beckham Cell Rejuvenating Priming Moisturizer retails for $95 (for 30 milliliters) and $145 (for 50 milliliters) and will be available starting today, November 19, on victoriabeckhambeauty.com.
