The Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office and several law enforcement agencies escorted a fallen deputy from Bozeman to the state medical examiner’s office in Billings and back on Monday.

Jake Allmendinger, 31, died Saturday night while responding to a stranded car on Fairy Lake Road in the Bridger Mountains.

Sheriff Brian Gootkin said in a Gallatin County news release that the escort was about showing respect for “one of our own who died in the line of duty.”
