Dermatologists love CeraVe. Not only do they regularly recommend the drugstore brand's face and body products to their patients, they also enthusiastically use the skin-care line themselves. But as much as skin docs adore CeraVe, I have a feeling it was way more than just dermatologists who made its SA Lotion for Rough & Bumpy Skin suddenly surge in popularity on Amazon today.

According to Amazon's Movers & Shakers list in its Beauty & Personal Care category, CeraVe SA Lotion for Rough & Bumpy Skin has jumped up more than 10,000 percent in sales within the last 24 hours — an absolutely mindboggling number. But what's not mindboggling is why: This $18 lotion is known for its ability to help smooth skin's texture with salicylic acid (that's the SA in the name) and lactic acid, all while hydrating, calming, and strengthening with a combination of hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and ceramides. And it does all of this in a lightweight formula that earned it an Allure Best of Beauty Award a few years ago.

Out of more than 1,200 people who have reviewed SA Lotion on Amazon, an impressive 70 percent gave it a five-star rating. Many of those reviewers purchased it in hopes of it helping with their keratosis pilaris, a build-up of keratin that clogs pores and causes bumpiness, usually on the back of the arms. "My KP bumps are 90% gone just after 4 weeks (smoother skin, redness of the bumps is gone, and Now my hair is not getting trapped under my skin)," one reviewer rejoiced. "This lotion in a month alone smoothed my skin out so much I was in awe," another reviewer wrote. "I thought I was going to need to spend thousands at a dermatologist if I ever wanted smooth skin but this is my miracle product."

But KP isn't the only use for CeraVe's SA Lotion. New York City dermatologist Joshua Zeichner has told Allure that it's a great option for exfoliating away psoriasis scales, and podiatrist Emily Splichal says that the lotion's thicker counterpart, SA Cream for Rough & Bumpy Skin, is a favorite among her patients for softening tough calluses.

CeraVe SA Lotion for Rough & Bumpy Skin is available at lots of different retailers, from drugstores to Target, but if you want to get in on the virtual stampede on Amazon, you can find it right here.
