This was our
No. 1 game to watch heading into the season
for a reason. Both teams have rolled to 3-0 starts and been the top
two ranked teams since our Top 25 came out in July. There will be over
40 players with FBS offers on the field Saturday. One
can't miss matchup is St. Frances Academy's defensive line against Mater Dei's offensive line. Whoever wins in the trenches will
have a great chance to improve to 4-0 and claim the No. 1 spot in high
school football.

Whenever
a team travels to Texas, it's a big-time game and you know St. John's
is going to be extra motivated after losing a 34-30 thriller last week to No. 12 St.
Joseph's Prep (Philadelphia). Jackson and
Duncanville began this season with something to prove after losing on a
Hail Mary in the 6A Division 1 state championship last year. Everyone
has always wanted Texas teams to play more out-of-state games and we get
our wish on Saturday.

St.
Joseph's Prep bounced back strong after a nail-biting loss to No. 9
Marietta (Ga.) and beat then-No. 4 St. John's (Washington, D.C.) by four
points at Rutgers University. IMG Academy beat a very talented
Northwestern (Miami) team 24-7 and showed why it has the best defense
in the state. The Ascenders get to test that defense against one of the most
explosive offenses in the country on Friday.

Could this finally be the year the Bulldogs solve the De La Salle magic? The Spartans are 3-0 against them and have won every game by
double-digits, though last year's game was closer than the score indicated.
This is a huge game for Northern California because the winner will most
likely get to play in the CIF Open Division state championship.

Two
Maryland vs. Southern California matchups are featured in the Top 10
Games of the Week. Good Counsel started the year 2-0 and has only
allowed seven points but faces arguably the best offense in the
country on Friday night. 2020 Clemson commit DJ Uiagalelei completed
6-of-9 passes for 290 yards and five touchdowns last week and added another on the
ground. Collins hauled in four receptions for 178 yards and had four
scores. The Braves are averaging 46.6 points per game in 2019.

The
biggest game in the Peach State is going down between two of the
favorites to win the 7A state title this season. Marietta has played
lights out to start the year and already owns a win over a Top 25 team beating No. 12 St. Joseph's Prep (Philadelphia) on national television
a couple weeks ago. The Blue Devils opened the season with a dominant 48-14 win
over Rome (Ga.) and beat Collins Hill (Suwanee, Ga.) 28-9 last week.
Grayson enters 2-0 with wins over James Clemens (Madison, Ala.)
and Tucker. This will be the third matchup between the two since
2009 and the Rams have won both previous meetings, including a 38-31 win
last season.

Things don't get easier for St. Ignatius after falling just short to No. 23 Mentor (Ohio). Up next: four-time defending state champs next. Hoban has won 31 straight games and their last loss came against the Wildcats in 2017. This will be the third straight year these two Ohio powers face off and that is split one apiece after the Knights won 21-14 last season.

The defending 6A Utah state champs already own one big out-of-state win and look to add a second against Las Vegas power Bishop Gorman. Lone Peak upset a very talented Narbonne (Harbor City, Calif.) team in San Diego at the Honor Bowl a couple weeks ago and enter this one 4-0. The Gaels bounced back strong after a 31-19 loss against No. 7 St. Louis (Honolulu) in Hawaii and beat Servite (Anaheim, Calif.) 42-21 in the Polynesian Football Classic. Barfield rushed for over 200 yards and three scores while Bowens connected with Odunze for three touchdowns through the air. The winner of this one puts them in a good spot to jump in the Top 25 rankings next week.

It used to be Jenks vs. Union when you mentioned an
Oklahoma high school football showdown, but Owasso and Broken Arrow have
established themselves as two of the best in the state. The Tigers
snapped an 18-game skid against Union and won on the road, something
they'd not done since 1986.
This will be the Rams' first game against an in-state opponent as they
beat two Arkansas teams to start the year - Bentonville West (Centerton)
and Fayetteville. This game features the last two teams to win the 6A-I
state championship -

Anytime Georgia and California face off it's a big deal. JSerra Catholic is one of the top teams in Southern California and Milton won the state title in Georgia's largest classification last season. The Lions bounced back after a 24-13 loss to No. 15 St. Joseph Regional (Montvale, N.J.) and beat Bishop Amat (La Puente, Calif.) 38-14. The defending 7A state champ Eagles had their 11-game winning streak snapped against Buford (Ga.) last week and look to bounce back in the second of three games featured in the Trinity League vs. USA showcase.
