THE mother of a teenage boy found dead in a hotel has told of the moment police gave her the news.
Alison Lapper said she was in the bathroom when a friend told her the police were at her door.
Her initial reaction was “oh, what has he done now”, but quickly realised the visit was more serious.
The 54-year-old said: “The atmosphere in my lounge showed this wasn’t something light.
“Then they said that he was found dead.
“I was just in complete denial thinking ‘you have got the wrong person’.
“It can’t be him, he is only 19, I saw him the other day and we spoke on the phone.
“How could this happen?
“There were no warning signs, nothing.”
Alison was born with phocomelia which meant she had no arms and shortened legs.
In 2000, while pregnant with Parys, she posed naked for artist Marc Quinn who then crafted a controversial marble sculpture of her.
This was on display in Trafalgar Square from 2005 to late 2007 and is one of Britain’s most recognisable pieces of modern art.
