Myles Turner of Indiana Pacers makes USA national team

Myles Turner is representing the United States.

The Indiana Pacers big man is part of the 12-player roster that's participating in the FIBA World Cup starting next week.

The roster was settled when Kyle Kuzma of the Los Angeles Lakers pulled out of contention with an ankle injury.

The U.S. isn't a sure thing to win this world championship. The squad lost to host Australia in an exhibition on Saturday, the Americans' first international loss since 2006.

The U.S. roster includes, at guard: Joe Harris, Donovan Mitchell, Marcus Smart, Kemba Walker and Derrick White; on the wing: Jayson Tatum, Khris Middleton, Jaylen Brown and Harrison Barnes; in the post: Turner, Brook Lopez and Mason Plumlee.

The Americans are in Group E with the Czech Republic, Japan and Turkey. Their opener is Sept. 1 against the Czech Republic.
