Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Archery programs are some of the best recreational activities that state parks have to offer. The sport develops strong problem-solving skills, increases focus and determination, teaches goal-setting, builds confidence, and connects family and friends. This program is perfect for archers who are just starting out or for those who have been shooting all their lives. Our park interpreter go over all instructions and rules to follow to ensure that everyone has the safest and most memorable experience possible. Join us this summer and see if you can hit the bulls eye. All equipment will be provided by the park. Spots in the archery program must be reserved ahead of time through the visitor center. Call us during business hours at 434-572-4623 to reserve your spot. Fee for this program is $3.00 per person.Parking fees are required unless you are a cabin or campground guest.
