Tottenham outcast Victor Wanyama is on Bruges’ radar ahead of the European transfer deadline on September 2.

Wanyama, 28, has not featured for Spurs this term and only made four starts last season.

The Kenyan had already fallen down Mauricio Pochettino’s pecking order, but the summer signings of Tanguy Ndombele for a club-record £54m and Giovani Lo Celso on loan have even further consigned him to the north London wilderness.

Tottenham's summer signings, including the club-record arrival of Tanguy Ndombele, have pushed Wanyama even further out of the picture

And according to the Daily Express, Bruges are now preparing an £18m bid for Wanyama - who still has two years left to run on his £65,000-a-week deal at Spurs.

The Belgian outfit have cash to spend after offloading midfielder Marvelous Nakamba to Aston Villa and Arnaut Danjuma Groeneveld to Bournemouth this summer.

Wanyama was also wanted by West Ham before the English transfer deadline passed, but a move to Spurs’ capital rivals eventually fell through.

West Ham were also linked with a move for Wanyama this summer, but the deal failed to materialise

He joined Mauricio Pochettino’s side for £11m in the summer of 2016, going onto make 47 appearances in his debut season under the Argentine.

However, the midfielder featured a mere 24 times for Spurs in the 2017/18 campaign, before running out on just 22 occasions last term.

And the final blow for Wanyama at Tottenham could have been Pochettino’s decision to introduce 18-year-old Oliver Skipp in the dying minutes of their 2-2 draw away at Manchester City on Saturday.

It shows how highly the Spurs boss thinks of the young central midfielder, who entered the fray as champions City ranked up the pressure at the Etihad.

Fortunately for Skipp, he was not on the losing side in Manchester as Gabriel Jesus saw his stoppage-time winner for the hosts ruled out by VAR.

Aymeric Laporte was deemed to have handled the ball prior to Jesus’ strike in scenes eerily reminiscent of April’s dramatic Champions League quarter-final clash between the two sides.
