National Gaming Control Board Chief Executive Officer, Imelda Agon appeared for first mention at the Waigani Committal Court this morning. Agon is facing one count of official corruption and one count of perjury. It is alleged that during the period of August 01, 2008 and January 31, 2011 Agon, who was then Director Corporate Affairs, raised allegations against former NGCB CEO, Simon Sinangke which was investigated by police and ultimately ending up in the National Court. This led to Sinangke’s suspension and subsequent appointed of Agon as the new Chief Executive.
It is also alleged that during this same period, Agon gave fabricated evidence before the National Court when the matter against Sinangke went to trial. Following her charges being read out, senior magistrate Cosmas Bidar adjourned the matter to September 19, 2019 to allow police to complete investigations and submit a case file. Her bail of K2000 has been extended until her next mention. FM100/PNGfacts Next : High Demand In WASH In Boarding Secondary Schools In Rural PNG Comments are closed.
