CIISF seminar to highlight physical security risks

Posted: 14/08/2019

The Channel Islands Information Security Forum (CIISF) is holding a seminar in Guernsey this week (Thursday 15 August) highlighting the security dangers that can be overlooked by businesses in an era of computers, internet and hi-tech crime.

"The reality is that often the easiest way into an organisation and to its data is literally through the front or back door," says the CIISF. "Many organisations recognise this and commission physical penetration tests to complement technical attacks."

The event – In through the out door: the shocking truth about physical security – will be held from 12.45pm to 2pm on Thursday at the Digital Greenhouse in Guernsey and is free to attend.

Carl Ceillam, CEO and founder of Guernsey-based IT security and digital forensics business The Chain Limited, will share his experiences of carrying out physical penetration tests on local businesses, and will cover:
• What is a physical penetration test and why is it done?
• Exploitation techniques and tools of the trade
• The human element – exploiting trust
• Design and implementation flaws in physical security systems
• Countermeasures and mitigation

He will demonstrate some of his not-so-hi-tech tools and share his photo collection of victims and compromised premises.
