Former South Carolina S Darian Stewart has joined his fourth NFL team as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers reached out to fill a void at the safety position.

Stewart signed with the Bucs to extend his NFL career that begin in 2010 with the St. Louis Rams. He was with the Rams for four seasons, then played for the Baltimore Ravens for one season before he spent the last four seasons with the Denver Broncos. Stewart began his career as an undrafted free agent.

The Bucs had several injuries at his position, and looked to Stewart for talent and experience, according to Scott Smith of Buccaneers.com. Stewart is a former Pro Bowler and was a starter on the 2015 Denver Broncos team that won Super Bowl 50. In nine NFL seasons he has played in 130 games with 91 starts, including 58 starts for the Broncos over the past four years. He’s also made eight interceptions over the last three seasons.

A two-year starter with the Gamecocks, Stewart has easily surpassed the expectations NFL scouts had of him coming out of South Carolina. In his draft profile on NFL.com, it said, “Stewart has limitations which likely will relegate him to being a core special teams contributor and providing valuable depth in the secondary.”
