Speaking at the start of the month Gareth Ellis told Hull Live he was giving serious thought to extending his playing career at Hull FC, having made a surprise return from retirement this season.
"I’ve not given up the idea of playing again. We’ll see what happens," said Ellis when asked about the chances of him playing next season.
Three weeks later and the player has now made up his mind, revealing in his column for the Yorkshire Post that he's decided he wants to play on.
"I have decided I do want to carry on playing in 2020 and and I’ve spoken now to Hull FC about potentially doing just that. I’ve not agreed anything with them as yet but we’ve had chats and it’s something I hope to get sorted," said Ellis in his column .
That's great news for Ellis, who has come back into the game from retirement and not just found his form almost instantly, but also found his love for the sport again.
Refreshed from his time away from playing, the forward and former captain returned to help Hull snap their losing record earlier in the campaign and has been a leader, inspiring presence and fearsome presence on the field since.
While injury has curtailed his impact in recent months, the 38-year-old is gearing up for his return in the next few weeks and is looking forward to having a big say on the race for honours at the back end of the season.
