The death of Bushwick Bill sent shockwaves through the hip-hop community. The Geto Boys member died at age 52 on Sunday following a battle with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. With artists like Snoop Dogg and Killer Mike already posting heartfelt tributes to honor the life of Bill, Eminem added his name to the growing list on Wednesday (June 12).
“RIP to the pioneering legend and one-of-a-kind MC #BushwickBill,” Em wrote to Twitter, saluting hip-hop’s latest fallen soldier. Being as well-versed as he is in rap, Slim Shady understands the impact the “Little Big Man” artist and the Geto Boys had on pushing the genre forward in a positive fashion.
There also looks to be a public memorial happening for Bushwick Bill in the near future. “We are looking into doing a public memorial at a later date. His family appreciates all of the prayers and support and are asking for privacy at this time,” the rapper’s publicist, Dawn G., previously relayed to Rolling Stone.
