Jordan Yamamoto, the 2014 All-Hawaii Division I Player of the Year, will make his major league debut with the Miami Marlins Wednesday, as first reported by Miami Marlins MLB.com reporter Joe Frisaro.
The 2014 Saint Louis School alumnus will be the starting pitcher against the St. Louis Cardinals, who have Kamehameha-Hawaii '08 alumnus Kolten Wong.
Yamamoto is being promoted from Double-A Jacksonville (Florida) to replace the injured Jose Urena. So far in 2019, Yamamoto has gone 3-5 in 12 starts with a 3.58 ERA and .223 batting average against him.
Yamamoto was a 12th-round draft pick by the Milwaukee Brewers in 2014 and was later traded to Miami in January of last year as part of a four-player trade for Christian Yelich.
