Colin Farrell being eyed for new Constantine movie?

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

A week or so ago we passed along word that Keanu Reeves is still interested in reprising his role as John Constantine if a new film should ever get off the ground. But unfortunately for Reeves, it seems like the powers that be over at Warner Brothers have another actor in mind for their (possible) CONSTANTINE reboot: Colin Farrell.

I don't know about you but I think Farrell is a fair choice for the role. After all, his performance in TRUE DETECTIVE Season 2 was the ONLY good thing about that season and his character was basically Constantine without, you know, all the Hell stuff. Bring it on, I say!

Especially considering that director Francis Lawrence's 2006 adaptation of DC's Hellblazer comic starring Keanu Reeves and Rachel Weisz is one of the top movies for me that I wish had been better. I mean all the ingredients were there for a new classic. But ala the final version was 'meh' and I have since been hoping someone gave it another big-budget re-do. Maybe this will be it?

For those of you that might not know, the Reeves' CONSTANTINE flick followed

a suicide survivor, demon hunter John Constantine (Keanu Reeves) who has literally been to hell and back — and he knows that when he dies, he's got a one-way ticket to Satan's realm unless he can earn enough goodwill to climb God's stairway to heaven. While helping policewoman Angela Dodson (Rachel Weisz) investigate her identical twin's apparent suicide, Constantine becomes caught up in a supernatural plot involving both demonic and angelic forces. Based on the DC/Vertigo "Hellblazer" comics.

CONSTANTINE was directed by Francis Lawrence from a screenplay written by Kevin Brodbin and Frank Cappello based on a story by Brodbin based on characters from the DC Comics Hellblazer graphic novels. Lauren Shuler Donner, Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan, Erwin Stoff, Lorenzo di Bonaventura, and Akiva Goldsman produced and the flick starred Keanu Reeves, Rachel Weisz, Shia LaBeouf, Tilda Swinton, Pruitt Taylor Vince, Djimon Hounsou, and Peter Stormare. If you don't own the movie on Blu-ray you can go ahead and snag a copy right over HERE.
