Barcelona’s world class central midfielder Ivan Rakitic will not become an Inter player this Summer according to a report from Rome based news outlet Corriere dello Sport.

The Nerazzurri have been heavily linked with a move for the Croatian but it is understood that the financial aspect is what has caused for the move to break down.

His representatives held talks with Inter when it seemed clear that Barcelona no longer wanted to keep Rakitic but things never really took off due to the fact Barcelona were wanting between €40-50 million to let him leave and then there was his big salary on top of that.

The 31-year-old, who has also played for Sevilla and Schalke in his career, has been near ever present for the Blaugrana this season.

He has made 53 appearances across all competitions and in almost 4200 minutes on the park, he has scored five goals and tallied 10 assists.
