A male Afghan Refugee on Manus Island has been arrested and charged for sexual penetration of a minor. Thirty years old Nabi Golam was alleged to have sexually penetrated a minor age 15 on two occasions on April 18th and 24th respectively. Police in Manus alleged that Golam forced the victim into a house at ward 2 in Lorengau Urban where he committed the sexual act without the victim’s consent. This is now the second time Golam had appeared before the Lorengau district court. The suspect appeared at the Lorengau District court on Monday but his case has been further adjourned to June 6. The suspect was released on court bail. Provincial Police commander chief Inspector David Yapu said he is not happy with the way the court is handling the case. He said the same refugee has a case before grade 5 court for dangerous driving causing death of a young local female in last year. The suspect is alleged again for committed rape whilst out on bail for the previous offence committed. Yapu said this goes to show that the accused has no respect for PNG laws and respect for the community. NBC/PNGfacts Comments are closed.
