The alternate government has nominated former Finance minister and Tari-Pori MP James Marape as its nominee for Prime Minister in the looming Vote of No Confidence. Opposition Leader Patrick Pruaitch made the announcement last night after a meeting of the group: "We have finally consulted and finally come up with our nominee for the prime minister's post in the coming vote of no confidence. "Im happy to announce on behalf of our Laguna Team that our prime minister nominee will be the honourable member for Tari-Pori James Marape. "This decision was finally arrived at after the Opposition caucus unanimously resolved to nominate Mr Marape for our candidacy," Mr Pruaitch said. Mr Marape says he's humbled at being nominated to challenge the Prime Minister's seat. He commended the 24 strong Opposition Members who've joined forces with MP's who've defected from the PNC-led coalition to form the Alternate government. Mr Marape says its time to lead the nation into a new direction from where it was heading. "And for the 29 of us finding solace, finding partnership, finding minds that are congruent to one and other and with the Opposition then we forge unity in a short space of time. "And for the Opposition to come out in one accord conferring me the highest privilege to be the alternate prime minister in the process of vote of no confidence, I am totally humbled by the kind gesture these very experienced leaders (have given me). "With these vibrant, visionary and convicted young crop of leaders at my side I am comforted, having experience on my side as well as having fire, energy, drive and zeal," Mr Marape said.
