change over point for feeder routes

Hi All,

For this VOR-A approach into Capy May airport in NJ. When would you switch from the feeder route VORTAC to the IAF VORTAC? I would assume halfway but is that clearly  written anywhere. I attached the approach below.

    Halfway would be the standard answer, but the practical answer is it doesn’t matter. It’s only 24 nm total distance, well within the standard service volume of either VOR. I would prefer to do it earlier rather than later, but it’s not going to matter much either way.

    However, I do want to comment on your terminology (not nitpicking, it can be important):

    ACY VOR is an IAF. Therefore, the route from ACY to SIE is not a feeder route, it’s an initial segment. Further, from ACY is a NoPT segment, which means that you’re flying to SIE as the FAF, not as the IAF.

    SIE is only the IAF when coming to it from some other direction and therefore executing the Hold-in-lieu. Then, SIE would be the IAF the first time you cross, and the FAF the second time.
