Yes, the company is private and only available to a very select few. But would you be buying at this level if the stock were public? Its accomplishments are unprecedented. BUT, SpaceX is a cash burning machine and the revenues to justify anything near this price are very much deferred until an operational StarLink is in place.

Any mistake at all treated is like a full catastrophe in the press, including the ocean waves getting in the way. And yet, it seems there is a bottomless pit of money available to SpaceX.

What about you? Would your money be in there at this level?

On another thread, there was mention of an investment in SpaceX by an individual. I don't think I've ever seen how one would do that, and what the requirements might be.

Could someone please enlighten me?

Individuals cannot invest in SpaceX as far as I know. You can invest indirectly buy buying a fund that is already an investor. See
Does SpaceX Belong in Your Retirement Portfolio?

Yes, I'd seen that in another recommendation, but really not interested in diversified investment. I'm inclined to putting all my eggs in the same basket.

I wouldn't buy a fund that owned Tesla. I buy TSLA.

Guess I'll have to be content with that.

If you qualify as an accredited investor and are willing to pony up at least a quarter mill you can buy part of a fund that is 100% SpaceX.

:( I hate that we are so "protected" that we have to dump $250,000 to invest in something we believe in. "You can't spend a reasonable amount, but if you want to spend a lot … well, sure." Gov't failure.

I don’t think gov involved in the minimum investment. That would be Forge and their ilk. Accredited investor on the other hand....

Not a failure at all. Having shareholders is a mess. Screening out shareholders that don't hold the same vision as you is near impossible. If a company stays private, it gets to choose its investors.

That's not my understanding of how it works. My understanding was/is that regulations have strict requirements of who can be invited, and some of these regulations entail characterizations like "accredited investor" -- i.e. very little to do with how aligned the potential investor is with your vision.

As an example, if SpaceX had a sister organization (or whatever) that accepted charitable contributions towards the goal of getting humans inhabiting more than 1 planet I'd be interested in that as well.
