Rhodri Giggs has been through the mill since it came out his wife and brother had an affair.

So it’s not a surprise that when he was insensitively probed about the worst years of his life on live TV, he clammed up.

Ryan had an eight year affair with Rhodri's wife Natasha, and they are said not to have spoken since.

Rhodri appeared on Good Morning Britain today to say he’d forgiven the affair and discussed the strained relationship between himself and his family after his Paddy Power advert that poked fun out of his brother, which he described as a "bit of fun" and a way to "move on".

But host Richard Madeley seemed to see this as a golden opportunity to poke around for some juicy goss about the former Manchester United winger.

The result was a very one sided, one word answer interview which viewers described as “cringeworthy” and a “car crash”.

When Richard asked whether he had discounted “suspicious looks or moments” between his brother and his wife, purely because he didn’t expect them to have the affair, Rhodri answered “yes and no”.

Richard continued to dig, accusing his footy ace brother of being a “serial womaniser” - to which Rhodri pulled a face and refused to answer, leaving awkward dead air between the pair.

When asked if he had spoken to Ryan, Rhodri opened up a little more, saying: “I haven’t spoken to him. I’m sure if I bumped into him it would be amicable, I don’t know. I am fine with it. I don't know if he’s upset with the advert."

He added: "I can't worry about someone who does something like that and says all the right things but doesn't do the right things."

A second said: “This Rhodri Giggs interview is utter car crash and garbage. Truly terrible.”

A third simply said: “This interview is excruciating.”
