Former Wildcat Sacha Killeya-Jones to pursue pro career

Former UK forward Sacha Killeya-Jones announced on Twitter he was leaving North Carolina State to pursue his dream of being a professional basketball player.

On February 13, Wolfpack head coach Kevin Keatts made an announcement that Jones was “no longer on the team.” Today Killeya-Jones made his future plans known. In a statement on Twitter, Killeya-Jones said the following:

“I would like to thank Coach Keatts and NC State for the opportunity to transfer here and to be a part of the program. After considering my future options, I’ve made the difficult decision to begin the immediate pursuit of a professional basketball career. I appreciate the support of my teammates and the NC State campus and community for making my time memorable. I’ve enjoyed my time at NC State and the relationships I’ve built, and wish the program all the best on the remainder of the season and moving forward.”

Due to NCAA transfer rules, Killeya-Jones was sitting out this season and would have played in the 2019-2020 season. In two seasons at Kentucky, he averaged three points and 2.5 rebounds per game. His career high in scoring at UK was 12 points against UT-Martin in 2018.

After the announcement, Keatts wished him the best. “I wish Sacha all the best in his future endeavors. I pray he finds both success and happiness in his next chapter.”
