KOTA KINABALU: The emergency response time for the Sabah Fire and Rescue Department is about seven minutes longer than the national average of 10 minutes or less, mainly due to geographical factors and lack of fire stations.
Sabah Fire and Rescue Department director Kamarulzaman Malik Abdullah said the longer response time hampered rescue operations, but added that they were working hard to try to cut down on the time while waiting for more fire stations to be built.
