HOW TO START A PROFITABLE PHONE REPAIR BUSINESS IN NIGERIA

By Billionairezmindset

The introduction of affordable GSM phone lines into Nigeria, undoubtedly has brought lots of economic benefits to the ordinary people on the street.
The usage of GSM phones has indeed open up many income generation opportunities for Nigerians through printing of recharge cards, sales of recharge cards, Phone charging, bulk SMS business, phone call business, sale and repairs of handsets.

An average Nigerian mobile phone user owns 2-3 devices: one “odeshi” all-purpose torchlight phone, a smart phone for chatting, taking selfies, snapchat and “setting p” on Instagram, and a status tablet for good measure. Whenever these portable mobile devices develop a broken screen, a bad charging port, software issues or other faults, users have to search for honest and reliable phone technicians to rectify faults.
You can truly make cool money from GSM phone maintenance/repair business because the opportunities and markets are there. Remember, there are so many GSM handset users living even in your street that may be looking for the services of a reliable and honest GSM technician to diagnose and rectify faults on their mobile phones.

This is a wonderful opportunity to delve into people’s ignorance. I once gave N500 to a phone repairer. And for what? Cleaning my phone panel with methylated spirit. The annoying thing is that I have cotton wool and spirit at home. I must tell you, there are many people like me in Nigeria who carries cell phones around and no little about it. Learn phone repairs and make a fortune.
With GSM phone repair business you can make between N7, 000 - N10, 000 in a day and between N100, 000 - N150, 000 in a month. Isn’t that a good small scale business?

HOW TO START PHONE REPAIR BUSINESS IN NIGERIA.
Starting a mobile phone repair business can be a lucrative venture, especially as the start-up fund required is relatively low, and information is readily available. The template is very simple, we have compiled some practical steps and tips to follow. Here are they:
1. GO FOR TRAINING

There are several ways to learn to repair mobile phones. To acquire basic knowledge for GSM handset repair you will need to go to experts to get it. There are many GSM handset repairers in Computer Village, Ikeja, or Farm Centre in Kano, so if you reside in Lagos or Kano you can go there to perfect your skills.
Best of all, you can learn for FREE, as long as you have a reliable internet connection. There are hours and hours of phone repair videos on Youtube, and you can also download repair manuals on ifixit. All you need to do is to buy faulty phones, dead or alive, practice your newly acquired skills on bringing them to life and sell them off again once fixed.

2. GET ADEQUATE START UP CAPITAL
Start with what you have. Many people are discouraged from starting their own business because they think they need huge capital to start. Setting up your own GSM repair business does not require huge start-up fund and you may not need to rent a shop to start, you can do it right at home. With N20, 000 or less you can start a small scale phone repair business. The most important thing is to have the required skills and training.

3. GET A SPACE. [LOCATION]
Depending on your budget, you can rent a shop or perhaps start from home, whichever one you prefer. But as you grow and get positive responses, you’ll need to get a shop to make this business a mega venture. When getting a space, make sure it’s an open busy place where potential customers can easily see you to get their phones repaired.

4. WORKSTATION
You will need to have a well prepared desk to work, preferably with drawers if you work from a shop, with a filing system in place for keeping customers property.
5. PURCHASE THE NECESSARY TOOLS

Having the right tools is an integral part of running this business. You can get a cell phone repair kits for as little as #3,000. These are some of the required tools:
1. Screw driver
2. Tweezers
3. Soldering iron
4. Battery tester
5. LCD tester
6. Multimeter
7. Magnifying lamp
8. Adhesive tape
9. Cleaning brush etc.

Fixing phones used to be my main source of income all through school. To properly fix a modern day phone, you need to understand basic electronic principles, you need very good eye sight, steady hands and very good knowledge on how to operate a computer.

@ OP I must confess this business is one of the most lucrative business in Nigeria ever since the advent of GSM.

I remember some years ago i went to Alaba international to fix my spoilt phone, a guy came around as well to fix his phone, the problem was: it was not ringing out, due to the heavy workload from the phone technician, i offered to help the guy..And behold the issue was that the customer had mistakenly put his profile on silent. when i showed the technician what the problem was, he quickly opened the phone, left it opened and unattended to for about 30mins, then later told the guy he's money was 5K. The guy begged like a baby for 4K which the technician accepted.. He later screwed everything back and we both shared the money 2K each.. That 2k sorted out my own repair issue grin grin cheesy.

NB; this guy had built a comfy home in Owerri and rides a BMW 3series 2009 Model back then.

Morale of the story; You can not do or know more than your ability grin grin cheesy cheesy cheesy

You nailed It.....I've got some Technicians who don enter Gbese well well for the business. It's not easy as most people think. Most especially the new generation mobile. No matter how careful and experience u are, You go still chop gbese for the business. Some Technicians have Migrated Into Importing phones and the Spare Parts. Very Profitable. No police or Customers Wahala. I'm also planning on the Shipping stuff too.
