Oconee County senior football player Dareon Goodrum will continue his football career after signing with Northwest Mississippi Community College.

Goodrum, along with teammate Miles Pettway, had the signing ceremony last Friday at the OCHS cafeteria surrounded my family, friends, teammates and coaches.

“It felt like it was home when I went there. I really liked the program. I thought it was a really good program. I loved the coaches,” Goodrum said. “I narrowed it down to a couple that I liked, and I liked Northwest Mississippi pretty good. I looked at about 15 different schools.”

Goodrum said he was looking at schools that were close to home and where he would have the potential to start and play.

Northwest Mississippi recruited him to play defensive end and defensive tackle.

Goodrum started playing football in seventh grade. He said it was a goal to play in college. Goodrum said he wants to be an all-conference player and be the best player at Northwest Mississippi.

Goodrum was all-region in 2016, 17 and 18 for the Warriors.

“I love it over here. It changed my life,” Goodrum said. “I cherish all of the memories.

“It is pretty hard to believe [graduation is in two months]. I love high school. If I could do it all over, I would do it again.”
