I.d. Restaurant in the Delafield Hotel will be the setting for a dinner April 1 that pairs wines from Spain, Germany, France and California with four dishes.

What grows together, goes together. It’s the saying that reassures a cook that foods in a particular season or a certain place will work in combination.

The Delafield small-plates restaurant I.d. is kicking off spring with a wine dinner surveying Spain, Germany, France and California on Monday, April 1, and the dinner is called What Grows Together, Goes Together.

I.d. sommelier Brian Felleti will guide diners through the wines paired with chef Joe Heppe’s menu. Have a peek at what’s in store:

First course — The 2006 Muriel Gran Reserva from Rioja in Spain will be served with Spanish rice fritters, smoked chicken, chorizo and saffron mayonnaise.

Second course — A 2014 Pinot Noir from Becker Family winery in the Pfalz region of Germany will be poured alongside lyonnaise salad with crisped pork from Waukesha’s Maple Creek Farms.

Third course — The 2016 white Bordeaux from Chateau Lagrugère from France’s Entre-Deux-Mers region is the pairing for skate wing meuniere, with browned butter and capers.

Fourth course — Dark chocolate budino tart with salted chantilly cream and candied cashews will have 2011 Port from Prager Winery & Port Works in California’s Napa Valley paired with it.

Tickets for the 6 to 8:30 p.m. dinner are $55 each, which includes tax and tip. They should be bought in advance through eventbrite.com on I.d.'s Facebook page.

I.d. is in the Delafield Hotel, 415 Genesee St. in Delafield.
