Ports of Jersey names new CEO

MattThomas_Ports of JerseyPorts of Jersey has appointed Matt Thomas as its new Chief Executive Officer.  

Matt will join the company in July from Shannon Group in Ireland, where as CEO he has overseen the development of the airport and aviation services centre, along with the development of the company's land and property holdings and the operation of its Irish tourist attractions.

Matt has also worked for Vantage Airport Group, where he held CEO and commercial management roles in Vancouver, Larnaca and Liverpool airports.

In Vancouver, he played a leading role in winning the $4bn redevelopment contract of the central terminal at LaGuardia Airport in New York, the largest airport public-private partnership in the US. Prior to this, Matt worked with Macquarie Airports in Newcastle and Copenhagen.

Matt succeeds Doug Bannister, who stepped down as CEO in December 2018. Alan Merry, the company's Director of Strategy & Development, will continue in the role of acting CEO until Matt joins in July.
