Inter captain and goalkeeper Samir Handanovic has shared his delight following Inter’s 3-2 success over city rivals Milan in Sunday night’s Milan derby.

“We believed in ourselves. We have had a lot of games, it was an emergency situation on Thursday, it was an ugly defeat but we had to get over it and prepare for the derby which came at the right time,” he told Inter TV.

“We deserved to win, we are all happy and now we can rest a bit. Desire and character came to the fore, not everyone can play in games like that. We won in both meetings this year, we’ve shown that we’re better.”

The Slovenian shot-stopper then spoke on Lautaro Martinez’s penalty and the remaining games in the season.

“At times I watch, at times I don’t. I didn’t want to watch today and it turned out well.

“There will be lots of direct match-ups now at home, San Siro gives us a boost and energy when we play here, the win today was the right result at the right time.”
