There is a lot to admire with Comic Relief and as well as raising millions for good causes, there have been some special sketches that have helped make the night one of the best ever on Red Nose Day.

The 'sequel' to Four Weddings and a Funeral almost brought the house down but this was achieved by Wet Wet Wet front man Marti Pellow, who cracked out a live version of chart-topping tune Love Is All Around in front of the studio audience.

Back in 1994, when the song was number one for 15 weeks, Marti was hailed for his silky voice and winning smile.

While the smile may still be there, the 53-year-old's voice was maybe left in the past but while viewers were calling for earplugs, there was one thing that really caught their eye.

Marti in a kilt was what the night was waiting for and viewers were loving what they were seeing.

One gushed on Twitter: "Martipellow in a leather kilt still looking rather tasty after all these years."

Another was getting hot under the collar, tweeting: "PHWOOR Marti Pellow is still as hot now as he was 30 years ago"

He was doing it for another viewer: "Marti Pellow, especially in that kilt, still floats my boat!"

It was a special moment for this viewer, who tweeted: "#ComicRelief Marti Pellow in a kilt! Be still my beating heart..."

The kilt may have won Marti's performance, it wasn't enough to cover for the general disappointment shared for his voice, that viewers felt 'wouldn't win a Marti Pellow sound-a-like competition'.

Time may not have been as kind to Marti's singing as it has been to his legs, that were given an airing under the leather kilt.

Viewers were not so charitable with their reaction, with one wondering on Twitter : "Marti Pellow is doing it in the 'club singer' style."

Another thought the performance was a little cringeworthy, tweeting: "Marti Pellow is the ambassador of cheese."

A third asked: "I wonder if Marti Pellow would win a Marti Pellow soundalike competition? # comicrelief19"

While another was scathing, tweeting: "Marti Pellow. I've heard better in the pub after closing time # ComicRelief"

This didn't detract from a night in which more than £63 million had been raised and the special sketches being hailed to help make it one of the most memorable Comic Relief shows ever.
