Sam Bennett continued his strong Paris-Nice campaign, surging from deep to win the closing sprint of stage six.

Arnaud Démare (Groupama-FDJ) had looked like taking the win after launching his sprint first from a reduced bunch having been dropped off by his final leadout man Jacopo Guarnieri.

But Bora-Hansgrohe rider Bennett dug deep, latching on to Démare's wheel before stealing it on the line for his second victory of the race after winning stage three on Tuesday, and his third career victory at Paris-Nice.

Michał Kwiatkowski (Team Sky) retains the overall lead of the race by 18 seconds ahead of team-mate Egan Bernal while Astana’s Luis León Sánchez is 22 seconds back.

Paris-Nice continues on Saturday with the 181.5km seventh stage from Nice to Col de Turini and concludes on Sunday with the 110km eighth stage around Nice.
