Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Be sure to stop by the Visitor Center, which houses both the Nature Center and the Discovery Center, where you can grab a map and fill up on water before you hit the trails.

The Nature Center allows you to get up close and personal with some of the critters that call Pocahontas home, while the Discovery Center allows you to catch a glimpse of what the park offers through interactive playscapes.

From snakes and honeybees to an imaginative camp scene and virtual reality mountain bike ride, the Visitor Center is sure to help you find your adventure.
