Signing Ivan Rakitic from Barcelona this summer could be how Inter might end up signing Real Madrid’s Luka Modric, at least according to Spanish tabloid AS.

According to the report, there are three possible and probable destinations for Barcelona’s Croatian international midfielder Ivan Rakitic, when the transfer window opens this summer. Firstly, and in pole position to sign the Croatian FIFA 2018 World Cup runner up, are Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain, who could raise the quality of their midfield should they be able to bring the former Sevilla man in.

Inter remain a distant second but according to the report what speaks for a move to Inter is the chance to play with compatriot Luka Modric.

“Inter are looking at Real Madrid’s Luka Modric, and signing Rakitic could function as an incentive for the Ballon d’or Winning midfielder to make the move to the Serie A.”

Should the duo join Inter they would find Marcelo Brozovic already there and together they would form the midfield trio that started the 2018 World Cup final for Croatia.
