BC Ferries has announced that they are cancelling the last round trip sailings for a number of routes between Metro Vancouver and Vancouver Island.

The ferry operator is cancelling the sailings due to deteriorating weather conditions, which includes another warning by Environment Canada for “a long period of snowfall with total amounts of 10 to 15 centimetres expected.”

“The safety of our passengers and crew is our number one priority and given the road conditions last evening and forecast for even more snow this afternoon and evening, we are cancelling the following sailings,” states a travel advisory.

With this in mind, BC Ferries states that reserved customers will be notified and will have their reservation fees automatically refunded.

In addition, they state that service is expected to resume in the morning, and that they are closely monitoring the weather forecasts for the next few days.

The following sailings are cancelled:

A number of sailings were cancelled on the weekend due to a strong windstorm that knocked out power to up to 70,000 homes at its peak. However, a travel advisory on Saturday afternoon stated that some sailings would resume.
