"I'm not going to make a hasty decision, but I'd like to be clear about it myself pretty quickly," De Jong told Fox Sports.

Maurizio Sarri has revealed he ordered Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia to sign Gonzalo Higuain two weeks ago.

“I don’t know,” Sarri said when asked about the progress Chelsea are making on signing Higuain. “I want to be clear, I spoke to Marina two weeks ago, she knows my opinion and then I decided to be focused on the pitch and training.

“I know that Marina is working very hard, but I know nothing about the market.

“I don’t call her every evening, otherwise I spend my energy on the market, it is better to spend mental energy on the pitch.”

12:40 UPDATE: Arsenal deal agreed

Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign Denis Suarez on loan and then permanently in the summer, according to Guillem Balague.

Arsenal have made Suarez their No 1 target this month as Unai Emery looks to get his side up to speed for a top four challenge.

He worked with Suarez at Sevilla and hopes he can bring more fluidity to the wings at the Emirates.

Balague says a deal has been agreed between the player and the club, but that Barcelona are delaying things, so he can be used in the cup.

He tweeted: “On Denis Suarez. Arsenal agree to loan him for €2-3m and €20-25 in the summer for a permanent. It’s what Denis wants. But FCB not giving the green light yet (to use him in Cup?)”

Newcastle have launched a £13.2m bid to sign Gregoire Defrel from Roma.

And the Rome club would be willing to sell the Frenchman, who is currently on loan at Sampdoria.

Sampdoria themselves have just signed Manolo Gabbiadini from Southampton so may be willing to play ball and cancel Defrel’s loan deal.

But Newcastle owner Mike Ashley will still have to run the rule over the transfer, with the business currently trying to sell the club.

11:50 UPDATE: Gazidis frustrates Chelsea?

Ivan Gazidis could be at the centre of two transfer sagas this month.

The AC Milan CEO - formerly at Arsenal - is said to have refused a proposal to sign Mesut Ozil from his former club.

And now Gazidis is running the rule over a Milan transfer that could impact on Chelsea.

Sport Mediaset claim he is yet to agree to the signing of Genoa star Krzysztof Piatek, whose arrival will see Gonzalo Higuain move to Chelsea, Alvaro Morata shifted to Atletico Madrid and Nikola Kalinic sold to the highest bidder.

“I am confident [we will keep Wilson],” Howe said.

“We have had no interest in any of our players, everything has just been speculation, which you understand. This is the month for it.

“I don’t want to place any more pressure on Callum or any of my players in my team by talking about things that aren’t important.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants Manchester United to sign Steven Bergwijn from PSV.

That is according to Tutto Mercato Web, who claim Solskjaer has personally requested the United board go for the player.

Bergwijn, 21, could cost just £25m - a snip if he turns out to be a world beater at Old Trafford.

United landing the player before the January transfer window closes may be difficult - but it is by no means an impossible deal to secure.

Everton do not have the money to splash out during the January transfer window, says manager Marco Silva.

"When you asked me the last few weeks the possible players coming or not in the market, I told you that you just can't sign someone if someone leaves the club or we sell someone,” Silva said on Thursday.

"We don't have the financial conditions to go in the market, [that] is the feedback I have at the moment. I have to find different solutions."

Everton have been linked with Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi but a permanent deal now seems unlikely.

Chelsea’s deal with Juventus for Gonzalo Higuain could cost them a £7.9m loan fee.

But Juve may be ready to offer an alternative agreement to make sure the transfer goes through.

Tuttosport claim Juve would be willing to wave the fee if they can sign Emerson Palmieri from Stamford Bridge as part of the Higuain deal.

Chelsea would still have to agree a fresh 12-month loan at the end of this season - but this temporary arrangement may appeal to the Blues.

Tuttosport claim the pre-contract agreement has been signed and that Juventus will not push to accelerate the transfer by six months.

Apparently, Juve will let Ramsey stay at Arsenal without trying to buy him now out of ‘respect’ for the London club.

Arsenal are seeking a replacement for Ramsey but manager Unai Emery says no players will come in in January unless on loan.

That is according to the MEN, who claim Woodward is working hard to find Rojo a new club.

05:30 UPDATE: Sky Sports man provides Newcastle update

Rafael Benitez and Newcastle are still no nearer to signing Miguel Almiron from Atlanta United although the Spaniard wants three signings this month, per Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie.

Downie said: "Benitez is in the market for new players; he wants a left-back, a striker and a No 10. The issue is the same as what we have seen in the past few transfer windows - the players Benitez wants fall outside the parameters set by Ashley, both in terms of transfer fees and wages.

"To that end Newcastle are still apart in both fields for Benitez's No 1 target, Paraguay international Miguel Almiron. It would take a bid that would break the club's long-standing transfer record to get his man, and in his heart of hearts the Spaniard knows that is very unlikely to happen.

"Benitez, who has refused to talk transfers at any of his news conferences in recent weeks, looks like a man who is resigned to his fate. That fate will be searching for cheaper options.

"PSG left-back Stanley N'Soki is a player he has a long-standing interest in and could be available on loan. So too Roma forward Gregoire Defrel, who Sky in Italy tell us Benitez has interest in."

05:00 UPDATE: Jadon Sancho warning sent by Dortmund boss

Borussia Dortmund have sent out a fierce warning to Premier League clubs looking at Jadon Sancho.

The youngster signed from Manchester City in August 2017 for just £8million, but since then his value has skyrocketed.

A host of Premier League teams had reportedly been looking at the 18-year-old in an attempt to bring him back to England.

But now, Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has told ESPN that they will not listen to offers for the star, and that he will stay at the club for the long-term.

04:30 UPDATE: Coutinho and Neymar swap

Barcelona would jump all over the chance to swap Philippe Coutinho for Neymar, says Graham Hunter.

The La Liga giants spent £142million on Coutinho after selling his Brazilian compatriot Neymar to PSG for £198m six months earlier, but neither deals have really worked out as hoped.

Hunter told the Transfer Talk podcast: "Philippe Coutinho was bought at a time when Barcelona were smarting from the way they had been treated by Neymar, they were short of answers, they set their hearts on the player and they wanted to give a very quick sop to their fans and sponsors.

"But it hasn't worked out the way in which either party fancied that it would. If there was an opportunity to do something with PSG, where Coutinho went to PSG and Neymar came back to the Camp Nou, then the people on the board would absolutely seize upon it."

04:00 UPDATE: Philippe Coutinho latest

02:00 UPDATE: Higuain to Chelsea doubt

Gonzalo Higuain is set to complete a loan move to Chelsea today - but there is doubt he will do so quick enough to face Arsenal tomorrow.

Express Sport understands Higuain will fly into London to complete a loan move to Stamford Bridge today but he must be registered by 12pm to take on the Gunners in the Premier League tomorrow night (5.30pm).

Simon Johnson of the Evening Standard believes it is more likely Higuain will make his debut in the Carabao Cup against Tottenham next week.

01:30 UPDATE: Chelsea look to stave off Bayern

Chelsea will look to keep Callum Hudson-Odoi away from Bayern Munich's clutches by offering him a new long-term contract, say the Mirror.

Bayern are keen to pay as much as £35million for the teenage winger but with the Blues reluctant to lose the academy graduate, they will offer him a £70,000-a-week deal.

The 18-year-old has already rejected new deals at the club.

And the Mirror say it is still likely Hudson-Odoi will still leave Stamford Bridge.

01:00 UPDATE: Jenas backs Higuain deal

Gonzalo Higuain's impending loan switch to Chelsea has been supported by Jermaine Jenas.

Jenas said of the Argentine: “He’s a player that can hold up the ball, he’s actually a lot quicker than people think he is and more importantly he scores goals.

“When he was at Napoli I think he scored 36, 37 goals in that season. He will stay up top and play within the areas of the 18-yard box.

“He’s very good from scoring outside the box and inside the box. In front of goal he is clinical. He can play one up top because he’s got the physical attributes. He’s not very tall but he can hold it in, a bit like Aguero does for City.

“Similar size and stature. He’s not probably on Aguero’s level but he’s a very good player."

Tuchel has been forced to exile contract rebel Adrien Rabiot from the first-team set up under instruction from sporting director Paulo Henrique, leaving the German short of options in midfield.

According to France Football, PSG’s pursuit of Senegal international Gueye is currently being blocked by Watford holding on to Doucoure.

Silva is only willing to let Gueye leave should he have a replacement lined up and he is keen on a reunion with PSG’s target and his former player Doucoure.

The Liverpool striker has been linked with a move away from Anfield on loan in order to get some first-team football and is priced at 4/5 to join Spurs before deadline day.

“The injury to Harry Kane has left Spurs short up front therefore it would be no surprise to see them do some business in the transfer window, with Divock Origi now looking like their number one target in a loan deal with Liverpool,” said Coral’s John Hill.
