The Miami Hurricanes are getting a high-profile transfer quarterback.

No, not that one.

Former Ohio State quarterback Tate Martell announced late Tuesday that he’s joining the Hurricanes. The former blue-chip recruit will be reuniting with a pair of former high school teammates from Las Vegas’ Bishop Gorman — tight end Brevin Jordan and safety Bubba Bolden (a recent transfer from USC).

Martell was a four-star recruit and the nation’s No. 2 dual-threat quarterback prospect (behind Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa) in the 2017 recruiting class. He backed up Dwayne Haskins last season and completed 23 of his 28 passes for 269 yards and a touchdown.

Martell’s move came after Ohio State landed elite prospect Justin Fields, who transferred from Georgia.

The addition is huge for first-year coach Manny Diaz and his Hurricanes, who struggled at quarterback over the last two seasons. That’s why soon-to-be-former Alabama quarterback Jalen Hurts visited UM over the weekend.

Miami also got another addition late Tuesday when receiver Jeff Thomas announced he was returning to the program.

Thomas was dismissed from the team in November and announced he was transferring to Lovie Smith’s Illini. Thomas led the 'Canes with 35 catches for 563 yards. He also caught three touchdowns and scored on a punt return.
